Accomplished Texas Probate, Estate Administration and Guardianship LawyerThe probate process can be complicated and is sometimes expensive. You need an experienced attorney who can help you navigate through the court proceedings. In central Texas, contact Michael R. Miller, Attorney at Law, P.C. At Michael R. Miller, Attorney at Law, P.C., we provide clients throughout central Texas with legal assistance in probate court matters. We handle probate and estate administration and help establish guardianships for minors and incapacitated adults. What is Probate? Probate is a court process for establishing who the heirs are and how the estate is handled, including collecting a deceased person's property -- called the "estate" -- and distributing it to the heirs. In most instances, estates have to go through this process. In Bell County and contiguous counties, if someone dies with a will, that will must be probated within four years. We help administer the deceased person's estate through the probate administration process. We'll prepare the notices to potential heirs and creditors who may have claims against the estate. We'll shepherd the estate representative through the complicated process. We'll keep the potential heirs and creditors informed every step of the way. If a person dies without leaving a will, in most cases this will require an administrator to handle the distribution of the estate. We can help the administrator get bonded and deal with claims and the inventory. Guardianships There are situations in which a person is legally incapable of making decisions for themselves. In these situations someone must be appointed to make critical financial, healthcare, and personal decisions for that person. People who need guardians often include children without parents; the retarded; people suffering from Alzheimer's, dementia, or some other injury or disease which dramtically impacts their ability to take care of themselves. We can help with the steps necessary for establishing someone as the guardian of another. To learn more about our probate and administration services, contact Michael R.
